The fact that LSAs could not be provided in all schools, due to resource limitations ; 417 state primary and secondary teachers from mainstream schools in all three districts (Musanze, Gakenke and Nyabihu) were trained to support children with special educational needs who attend in their school classrooms. Teachers were trained on identifying students with special educational needs (SEN), demonstrate positive attitudes towards children with special educational needs (SEN) and basic strategies to support children with special educational needs (SEN) in mainstream schools. After training, trained teachers trained fellow teachers when they returned to their schools.
For empowering them progressively, the organization have trained school head teachers and deputy head teachers in charge of studies on the same training content so that they can continue refreshing minds of their trained teachers and new ones. Besides, educationalist staff of EmCD conduct regular visit to monitor and evaluate trained teachers’ activities for more pieces of advice and debriefings.
